The Bay Area Biosolids Coalition is a group of utilities and industry partners in the San Francisco Bay Area who collaborate to advance the science of and develop all-weather solutions for biosolids management. We are people who live and work in the communities we serve, with a personal connection to what we do.

OUR GOALS

Communicate the value of biosolids.

While biosolids have enriched the Bay Area landscape for many decades, they are sometimes misunderstood. We aim to increase trust and support of this incredible environmental asset, as well as provide educational outreach to the public we serve.

Advance research.

We support independent, peer-reviewed scientific research that examines the safety, benefits, and effectiveness of biosolids. It is this research that helps inform science-based regulations, guidelines, and best management practices.

Support land application.

We are proactive about developing working relationships with local farmers to identify mutually beneficial uses for biosolids to benefit the planet and people. We also work with regulators to ensure that best management practices are kept and knowledge is shared about the best available science.

Find solutions.

We are committed to collaborating for the development of diverse, cost-effective, and reliable all-weather solutions for the Bay Area. We believe managing biosolids in this way is the best thing we can do for the environment, the public, and our future.
